If you’re curious about reflexology or wondering what to expect from a session, you’re in the right place—these frequently asked questions will help you feel informed and comfortable before you book.
What should I expect during a session?
Each appointment begins with a short conversation about how you’re feeling and what you’d like to focus on. You’ll stay fully clothed, except for your shoes and socks. You’ll lie back or sit comfortably while I apply gentle pressure to reflex points on your feet or hands.
How long is a session?
Sessions typically last 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your needs. I’ll always tailor the session to suit your comfort level.
What should I wear?
Please wear something comfortable. For foot reflexology, you’ll just need to remove your shoes and socks.
How is hygiene maintained during treatments?
I take hygiene seriously. The treatment area is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between appointments, and fresh linens are used for every client. I always wash my hands before and after each session.
Can I request both hands and feet in the same session?
You have three options for each session. You can choose either both feet, both hands, or one of each – I’ll customize the treatment based on what works best for you.
Where are you located?
I provide treatments primarily at my home in Diamond Valley or you can book a treatment at River Retreat Kananaskis. Details about each location are provided during the appointment booking process.
If you live in Okotoks, you can book an appointment with me at Active Balance Health Centre.
Can you provide a receipt for my session?
Yes, as a Registered Reflexology Therapist I provide my clients with a receipt that can be submitted to their extended medical insurance company.
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a natural, non-invasive therapy that uses pressure points on the feet or hands to stimulate the body’s own healing response. It’s known to reduce stress, improve circulation, and support overall wellness.
How does reflexology work with the body’s energy or meridians?
Reflexology is based on the idea that the body contains energy pathways, often referred to as meridians in traditional Chinese medicine. These meridians run through the body and are connected to specific organs and systems. By applying pressure to reflex points on the hands or feet, reflexology helps stimulate the flow of energy along these pathways. This can help clear blockages, restore balance, and support the body’s natural healing process. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the concept of meridians, many people report feeling more relaxed, energized, and centered after a session.
Can reflexology help with specific health concerns?
While reflexology isn’t a replacement for medical care, many people find it helpful for managing stress, headaches, fatigue, digestive discomfort, and more. It’s a great complement to your overall wellness routine.
Does reflexology hurt?
Reflexology should never be painful. You may feel slight tenderness in certain areas, but I always work within your comfort level and can adjust pressure as needed.
What’s the difference between hand and foot reflexology?
Both techniques follow the same principle—stimulating reflex points to support body systems. Foot reflexology is often used for grounding and full-body relaxation, while hand reflexology is a great option for those with foot sensitivity, mobility issues, or conditions like arthritis or repetitive strain.
Which should I choose—hands or feet?
It’s entirely up to you! Some clients prefer one area, while others enjoy a combination. I’m happy to talk through what you’re looking for and recommend what might feel best.
